Five easy ways to contribute

1. Make a cash or check donation

Be sure to indicate on the form whether or not your donation is in honor or in memory of someone.

2. Make an online donation using FirstGiving

We have switched to FirstGiving for our general donations. You can make a donation by clicking the FirstGiving button below.

3. Phone in a donation

Call in your donation with your credit card and we will take down all your information. Once we have all your information, we will then process it through FirstGiving. When you receive your credit card statement, it will show up as "FIRSTGIVING.COM/CC." After your information is processed, we will forward a receipt to your e-mail or mail it to you.

4. Donate an item off the SBAWI wish list

  • One (1) laptop computer with Microsoft Office
  • Stamps ($0.44 and $0.29)
  • White Copy Paper 8.5" x 11"
  • Printing Services--both black and white and color
  • 10 new copies of "Dream With Me Tonight: Lullabies For All Ages" CD
  • Raffle or Silent Auction Items
    (Gift items, certificates, vacation packages)
  • Monetary donations to purchase books, brochures, and other resource materials from the SBA National Office.

5. Make a gift to SBAWI through your will

It is one of the simplest ways to support SBAWI. When you make your gift to SBAWI, you may designate it for a specific purpose or program, such as newborn, family, recreation, campership, conference, or leave it undesignated so that it will go to where the need is most urgent. Gifts made through your will should be made with appropriate counsel from your lawyer or financial advisor.

How your monetary donation helps

Monetary donations can help in so many ways. A gift of $25 can cover the costs of sending packets of information to 5 families. The information and support families receive from SBAWI can go a long way in helping them feel like they are not alone. No matter what size gift you make, you can help to positively affect the lives of individuals living with Spina Bifida throughout Wisconsin.

$100 assists 1 family of a newborn. Families with new babies are sent a packet of information to help them access the resources they will need to help their young ones grow up healthy, happy and strong. A gift, such as a hand-knitted blanket, or a latex free toy is included to help each family celebrate the birth of their baby. A small financial grant is given to help families with expenses such as gas to and from the hospital, or childcare for siblings. SBAWI sends similar packets at significant milestones throughout life, ensuring families and individuals know what resources remain available to them.

$150 covers the cost of one educational/networking workshop. Spina bifida is a complex birth defect, affecting many aspects of a person's life. Health and well-being takes much more effort and attention for people with Spina Bifida than for most people. Our workshops provide opportunities to gather information, keep informed of the latest in care and treatment, and network with other families. All workshops are provided free of charge.

$325 provides adult programs. Your gift of $150-$325 will provide adults with Spina Bifida important opportunities for networking and education: $150 will pay for a networking event or workshop; $300 will provide 12 adults with the Health Guide for Adults Living with Spina Bifida; $325 covers registration to attend the national Spina Bifida Association conference priceless experience for attendees.

$500 sends 1 child to a wheelchair basketball camp. SBAWI believes in the importance of summer camp opportunities for youth. Camp helps youth develop independent living skills, self esteem, healthy habits, and - if the youth chooses to go to basketball camp - basketball skills. The UW Whitewater Wheelchair Sports camps continue to be the most popular camps among the children who receive SBAWI's Campership grants. Through SBAWI's Campership Program, youth can attend the summer camp of their choice.
